Directions
Take the N2 north about 100ks from Durbs or ¾ hour from the new airport
(we can’t remember it’s name either)
Slow down to national speed limit as you go over Amatikulu River (and past
BRIDGE 9) - and look out for offramp signed Gingindlovu/Eshowe (pay bucks @
dokoweni toll plaza)
The sightseeing in ging is not so good - turn right and go under the N2
(if coming from eshowe you will not go through the toll - continue straight)
(if coming from safari in RichardsBay no toll either - turn left after taking offramp
you will think you are in deep trouble when you hit the bumpy dirt road – do not panic!
Go north along the ridge (past clinic and voda tower) just shy of 2 km until you reach a small hill, turn right (look out for the twin cream rondavels and FLYING PADDLEWHEEL (Giant red Fly swatter)
follow the road to the end (2.5km) and breathe a sigh of relief
call friends and family to let them know you made it - chill out.
for the larnies with gps:29,05.463S, 31,37.888E
or for the rest you’ll probably get lost - call us – if you’re nice we’ll talk you through it - Lana 084 959 8827 or
035 337 4969
In the event of heavy rain (or if you have a sportscar and for some reason you don’t want to test its off-road ability) carry on 1km past the 1st set of flying paddlewheels.
Turn right at the fork toward the sea. Go down the hill past Siphamandla Shebeen (stop off for a coldie if you want). 100m on you will see the FLYING PADDLEWHEELS on your right – turn!!! Follow this road (2.5km) over the low level bridge and hill to the end.
